Project Description
Before the team arrived, fifty families in Marin community relied on five unprotected wells to meet their water needs. As a result, the team found many cases of diarrhea, dehydration, and other water related illnesses when we arrived on site. This new water project will greatly reduce these challenges by providing the community with a sustainable source of clean water. During the team’s stay, community members assembled a water management committee who assisted the team with the water project whenever possible. Before leaving the community, the team provided the community leader with a contract number for our team on the ground in case their well were to fall into disrepair, or become subject to vandalism or theft.
Marin community received access to clean water through the rehabilitation of a well that had fallen into disrepair. The team on the ground focuses extensively on long term development in the communities they partner with, empowering communities to take ownership over the water projects through the creation of water management committees. Through these committees, community members are trained in a financial and technical well management and maintenance.
